December 13, 2005 - For the second consecutive year, I didn't make any of the three goals I set for myself from last year.  I never left the country, showed outside Austin (although I did sell a couple of works outside Austin) and came within a few hundred dollars of breaking the $13,000 plateau in income.
January - April
May - August
September - December

And so, although I have plenty of designs of what I'd like to paint next year, and have planned on having two solo shows of new work - one in April/May, the other in September/October, along with some sort of follow-up to this year's unicorn show, my three simple goals for 2006 are:

  • Make $15,000
  • Have a show outside Austin
  • Interview 24 artists for my website

Of course, those goals are pretty modest, I mean, $15,000 a year is still around $7.00 an hour if I only worked 40 hours a week.   I'm trying hard to put together some selling opportunities outside Austin, and think I'll finally get it done this year.  I also want to have at least 24 artists and have their interviews on my website before the end of the year because of the sorry state of arts reporting in Austin.  The interviews will also help promote artists as well as let non-artists get a better sense of just what makes up the life of the artist.
