FATHER'S DAY SHOW NAMED #10

January 4, 2007 - The Father's Day Show, held at Bolm Studios in June of 2006, was named as one of the top ten visual art events of 2006 by Rachel Koper of the Austin Chronicle.

The show featured work inspired by thirty artists' fathers and opened with a BBQ and full crowds on Father's Day.

I'd like to again thank all the artists who participated and made the show such a memorable event.

WHAT IF WE COULD GET IT ALL BACK?
Debuted at the Gallery at Bolm Studios in April of 2006, this show featured 30 new paintings by Michael Schliefke.  Click on the headline to see the work.

WILL THERE EVER BE A RAINBOW?
November 5, 2005- Take a trip down memory lane and see one of Austin's biggest art shows.  Seventy four artists put together one of the most visually stunning shows ever, with one unifying theme: unicorns.  The show was recently named as the 'Best Group/Theme Art Show in 2005' by the Austin Chronicle.

A HOPELESS ROMANCE
August, 2005 -This solo show of new paintings opened in the fall of 2005.  It featured over twenty new oil paintings painted throughout the year.

CURATED BY IAN SHULTS AND MICHAEL SCHLIEFKE

MY FIRST THREE CURATED PAINTING SHOWS:

SHOULDA BEEN A PLUMBER
October 5, 2003 - A big crowd packed the gallery at Blue Genie, which was filled to the brim with some of the finest painting from some of the hardest working artists in town.
WHILE WE'RE YOUNG
April 20, 2004 -  With the soundtrack for the night provided by a solo performance by  Attic Ted, a ton of folks showed up at Blue Genie and made the show a success.
SHOULDA BEEN A PLUMBER TOO
October 15, 2004 -  This show featured the art of
Chris Chappell, Charles Randolph, Ian Shults, and Michael Schliefke.  Bolm Studios hosted the event.

THE TEXAS BIENNIAL '05
March 7, 2005 - The Texas Biennial is hanging all over Austin right now, and with all group shows, there's good and bad, but I couldn't help but walking away impressed with what I saw.  If you'd like to read one painter's opinion of the largest art show in Texas all year, check out what I had to say after seeing the
2005 Texas Biennial.

WHY CHARITIES AND ART NEVER MIX
OOPS I DID IT AGAIN!
February 25,  2005 - For the second time I donated a painting to a charity and the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth.  It's unfortunate, because its cool helping out people and charities when they need it.  Read all about art and charity fundraisers in Austin here.
'ARTISTS ARE POOR, BUT POOR WITH STYLE'
JERRY SALTZ BRINGS DOWN THE ARTHOUSE
June 12, 2004 - "You artists", the critic panned the crowd and immediately identified his core audience, "are weird."  And with that, Village Voice critic Jerry Saltz led the packed house at the Arthouse on an hour and a half lecture on taste, art, and the life of a critic.  (
