"WATCH A PAINTER WATCH PAINT DRY"
November 18, 2005 - That snappy headline, no matter how  funny, true or sad it is, actually came from the Austin American Statesman's write-up about the annual East Austin event showcasing 76 studios and over 100 of the city's very own living, breathing artists.

Despite that tantalizing view of the tour from the city's only newspaper, the weekend continues to be one of my favorite art events of the year.  Crowds started slower on Saturday morning, as people seemed to start on the western half and move east through the day.

As the crowds made it to Bolm, the turnout was strong and steady.  Its always great to step back a bit and see what catches peoples' eyes.  In my studio, which was covered in paintings, most people invariably get caught up looking through the wall lined with notes, old show postcards, and miscellaneous stickers, cards, ticket stubs and the like I pin up.

Two pretty twenty something girls were admiring my recent acquisition, a bumper sticker stating how I'd rather be at a Neil Diamond concert, and I asked them if they grew up on because their parent's listened to it.  They politely laughed, and told me their parents are too young, and made me feel like I was eighty seven years old.

I made a few nice batches of hot dogs, met a lot of great new folks, and made a few sales - a couple of paintings I liked along with a slew of t-shirts that'll be traveling across the country just in time for Christmas.
