| December 18, 2005 - This year's Blue Genie Art Bazaar is by far the strongest one they've put together so far. With over eighty artists hawking their fine handcrafted wares throughout Blue Genie's 10,000 square foot industrial art complex, the show has a little bit of everything for everyone.
Among the highlights of the show:
- Whitney Lee unveils a plethora of new latch hook rugs that are shockingly cool with a fresh new pastel palette and some old school latch hook favorites incorporated into her porn stylings. But please, don't tell this puckered woman about them, for her children may turn out to be free thinking types with no sexual hang-ups.
- Relative newcomer to the Austin scene, Travis Nichols has his fantastic little paintings on display, along with some small gift cards and watercolors that look pretty great.
- Dana Younger has dulled the senses with his collection of paintings, digital prints and relief sculptures.
- Chris Chappell has his latest work on display, a sensational set of truly great and hideously inexpensive paintings of tree canopies and highway landscapes from the driver's perspective are beautiful.
- Rory Skagen packages up throwing rocks and dryer lint like noone can, I dare you to walk away without one in your checkout basket. He also has some pretty impressive new work on display that you can take home as well.
- I've got some fine t-shirts, paintings and a plethora of prints available for the taking as well. Don't leave for home without some.
