SXSW 2006
IT ALL STARTED AT BEERLAND
March 15, 2006 - After spending the morning stripping my new bike's frame of its old paint job, I hopped on a bus for downtown to help out by manning the merch booth outside Beerland.

For the four hours I was there, I ran into a bunch of friends, sold some shirts and ate some delicious Frito Pie.  I also chatted briefly with Dave from Swearing at Motorists.  Our conversation touched on myspace, and he laughed off all the jokes he tells his friends about it and decided it has actually changed his life.

I didn't want to admit any of that to my girlfriend, a myspace junkie, but ended up doing do anyway before breaking the news I was on my way to see the Flaming Lips across town at the Fox and the Hound.  Dr. Awesome, the leading authority on all things music, told me about their surprise show that most everyone else in Austin already knew about.

I got out of work just in time to walk across town, grab a quick burger and stand in line.  After some anxious moments about the show being sold out, I was one of the last ten people in to see it.  Unbeknownst to me the Beastie Boys were supposed to cap off the show at 1am, but they no showed at the last minute, leaving Heather and Dr. Awesome to pout for the camera.
