SXSW 2006
VICE PARTY
March 18-19, 2006 - After two long nights of parties, there was a crackle in the air for the big event of the week - Vice Magazine's Kill Texas After Party.  With a lineup of loud bands that I paid absolutely no attention to, I helped keep things in check and my liver well oiled.

Sparks, the fruity, caffeinated malt liquor, was the drink du jour, along with PBR, ye olde hipster staple.  I treaded dangerously downing more than a handle of the toxic orange malt, speeding up my system and wrecking havoc with sense of time and space.

The party was insane - people actually tried to sneak in by climbing onto the roof - and it was at true capacity.   The bands were loud, and the hordes of drunk hipsters descended on the triceratops sculpture set up in the outside courtyard.  At 11:30, the first drunk girl jumped aboard, and her drunk friend told her she couldn't get her and the rhino in the frame together.  The rest of the night lived up to its billing...

Words can't do justice.

The Party to Kill Texas
That's what those crazy hipsters from Vice Magazine intended to do with their weeklong SXSW efforts.  I'm not sure, but I'd say supplying free Sparks is probably the best way to get started.

Lovers in Love
I'm not sure why, but I became infatuated with taking pictures of this kissing couple.  In my defense, I do remember being goaded into getting a picture where tongues were visible.

This Brooklyn girl was passed out all night.

Friends at the Show
I wasn't alone in the seemingly endless sea of hipsters.  Luckily, I had a bunch of familiar faces around to pound Sparks by.

The Real After Party
Cases and cases of Sparks, combined with 1500 people, make a small little mess.  The Sparks puddle outside disgusted all of us the next day.
