PAINTING CLASSES

I teach oil and acrylic painting classes from my studio.  Classes meet for eight 1 1/2 hour sessions.  Every painting class is tailored towards each student's abilities and interests.  Students of all abilities and experience are welcome.

Over the course of eight weeks of classes, I will help each student develop their techniques and painting experience through practice and demonstrations of techniques and painting concepts.

Each class is geared to each individual's painting level.  I have taught beginners as well as more advanced students to help them achieve their own goals.  Students can choose the subject matter, and I assist with composition, paint application, color mixing, values, form and teach some of the concepts of great painters with my knowledge of art history.

I believe in practice and learning through doing.  While some classtime will be devoted to the basics of painting, the main focus of the classes is to allow the student to practice painting and develop and use the lessons learned to build their own confidence and abilities.  It is my desire, after eight weeks of classes, to give the student the tools they need to continue to paint on their own.  Many of my students have a love of art and painting that is undeveloped or lacking in the knowledge of how to achieve their goals.  I believe its my role as the instructor to get over bad habits, lack of knowledge and allow the student to bring their talents to their full potential.

CLASS INFORMATION

Classes are filled on a first come, first served basis.
Each class session is one and a half hour.
Classes run for eight weeks.
The full eight weeks of classes costs $300.

Palettes, easels, rags and liquid materials will be provided. Paints, canvasses, and brushes are the responsibility of the student.  I teach both oil and acrylic painting, but recommend beginning students to use acrylics, as they cost less, are easier to clean, and generally take less time than oils, which allows for more progress to be made during the class sessions.  I have a basic list of materials that can be picked up at any art or hobby store upon request.

Class schedules are fairly flexible, with advance notice, classes can be rescheduled during the week or in case of vacations or other issues, a week can be skipped without losing your classtime.  I just ask that you not abuse this and notify me as early as possible if you won't be able to attend an art lesson.
