CHILDREN'S
ART CLASSES
Perfect for children aged
7-14, each art class is a private lesson, keeping the work and focus on
each child in the class. Classes focus on drawing and painting, and can
switch between the two mediums, depending on the child's experience and
desires. I recommend drawing for a few classes to go over the
basics of proportion, shape, and shading as well as grasping the idea
of how to start out creating art. Over the course of the eight
one hour lessons, each student will work on drawing and painting
various pictures, developing an eye for color and working on drawing
and painting skills. Each class will feature some art history
along with the painting time.
High
school students are encouraged to sign up for the regular
painting/drawing classes and can focus in on building a portfolio and
working through more advanced concepts.
These classes are a great supplement to
their art classes in school, allowing the students to pick up
techniques, concepts and ideas about artmaking as well as hands on
practice.
CLASS
INFORMATION
Classes are filled on a first come, first served basis.
Each class session is one hour.
Classes run for ten weeks.
The full ten weeks of classes costs $240.
Palettes,
easels, rags and liquid materials will be provided. Paints, canvasses,
and brushes are the responsibility of the student. I primarily
teach acrylic painting to children, and drawings may be done in pencil,
charcoal, colored pencil or ink. I have a basic list of
materials that can be picked up at any art or hobby store upon request.
Class schedules are fairly flexible, with advance notice, classes can
be rescheduled during the week or in case of vacations or other issues,
a week can be skipped without losing your classtime. I just
ask that you not abuse this and notify me as early as possible if you
won't be able to attend an art lesson.
ABOUT MICHAEL
SCHLIEFKE
Michael Schliefke has been teaching both adults and children painting
and drawing lessons for over seven years. He has a Bachelor
of Fine Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute and has been a working
artist, painting and showing regularly, for over a dozen years.

classes are located at my climate controlled studio located in
north central Austin, easily accessible from MoPac, I35, and 183.
The
studio is located on Anderson Lane between Lamar and Burnet.
