The online chronicles of a painter living in Austin, Texas

IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY...
RETURN TO THE DARK SIDE

REBUILDING THE DEATH STAR

The best and brightest toy any boy could have owned from the Star Wars universe was the Millenium Falcon. It was always the first question asked when toys came up - and the cool kids all had one.  I had my chance, one snowy week before Christmas, when my parents were out and about and drove me to a toy store.  When my Dad asked me if I could have one thing and only thing in the entire store, I headed straight to the Star Wars aisle.  I remember walking up and down the aisle, a list of pros and cons running in and out of focus in my little developing brain.

Of all the toys, spaceships, figures and playsets available to me, I pointed at the Death Star and said, "I want that."  My Dad reassurred me I wasn't getting it for Christmas, but when Mom shuffled me into the car with Dad still in the store, my suspicions were raised.  I looked through the crack of the rear window to see the box being stuffed into the trunk of the car.

That was a very good Christmas.  With most of the parts still in my possession, I am going to aim to REBUILD THE DEATH STAR on Tuesday, November 23.  Stay tuned, as I am already perusing the plans...
