For three weeks in April, I helped out scenic painter extraordinaires Gen Goering and Regina Weller on the Lyric Opera’s 2015 production of Tosca.

Over the three weeks, we painted over 5,000 square feet of flooring, along with three large backdrops, faux sculptures, and countless pieces of sets, walls, fireplaces, and other architectural elements.

Gen and Regina are amazing, and it was quite an exsperience to paint side by side with them and paint on a large scale for the first time in many years since helping out with some large backdrops for Blue Genie back in Austin.

Scenic Painting – GenGWorks!

I went to school with some amazingly talented artists when I attended the Kansas City Art Institute in the mid-nineties, when the school was at the top of its game.  From a top notch staff of professors to illustrators like Nathan Fox, Jim Mahfood and Paul Briggs to a ton of collected and working artists strewn about the nation,  I was lucky enough to become a close friend of one of Kansas City’s most talented scenic painter,  Gen Agers Goering.
