ROLLING OUT THE RED CARPET
OUR FINISHED JOB

February 18, 2006 - The final few hours were frantic, I helped set up some drapes at the entrances, helped hang nearly 500 feet of drapes the VIPS would enter through, and I thought my job was done after rolling out the red carpet.  Instead, DMac was making adjustments to the stage and we had to set up a few more velvet ropes and make some final adjustments as the crowds of people started making their way into the center for the big party.

I thought I caught a glimpse of Dr. J. in the VIP area as I headed back wearily behind the stage.  Beyond that, I was enthused at seeing the real life hip hop equivalent of an old time cigarette girl - a batch of hot, fit black women wearing skin tight shiny dresses were strolling the hall hawking one of the party's sponsor's wares.  As the crowd started flowing in, the team sat back in our dark and noisy area waiting for the word it was OK to head out.

After we did leave, we found a tremendous Japanese tapas restaurant that wowed the troops.  With the party raging six blocks away, and an awful chill in the air, all there was to do was to take everything down tomorrow and party when its all done.
