A MIDWESTERN ADVENTURE
KANSAS CITY AND BEYOND
October 5, 2005 - Two things are very true about my travels these days:
every trip outside Austin's City Limits becomes more and more precious,
and every return trip to Kansas City is like a delirious, naughty
rendezvous with an old flame. Both parts of this statement held
true as Laura and I topped off the gas in her car and headed north,
through Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas to arrive in that magical little land
that holds a special place in my heart:
|
 |
Kansas City.
And so the short visit was filled with delights, laughs and the
usual staples of enormous KC sized meals I caught up with the
quickly changing downtown, the ever present art scene, my old school
and the attempts to improve the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
To catch a sense of just what happens on the road, take a trip all
your own. And watch out for hypnotic Chinatown cats. |

A note to SCHLIEFKEVISION readers: since I've gotten my new camera,
I've been experimenting with video clips, and now my humble editing
prowess is hopefully on display in good form. They rely on
Quicktime, so if you don't have it, you can
download it here. Unfortunately, it now comes bundled with
iTunes, so you can be one step from joining the growing line of
hipsters by owning your very own newfangled iPod.
