A visit to Kansas City
FAMILY DAZE

The last time I visited Kansas City Gen was pregnant and E was a rambunctious two year old.  Now the family has grown, with lil O joining the family.  Being a middle child, I joked relentlessly about how little attention was paid to the little guy, who seemed oddly content to sit in his high chair eating cereal or peas while the rest of the family started clearing the table or doing dishes.  He's a smiley and content child, cute and teething.  It's amazing just how much fluids can drip from a teething child's mouth in the matter of mere moments, as my drool covered t-shirts from the trip would attest to.  One of my prouder moments of my faux-parenthood through the week was when the lil guy coughed up some vomit.  I hardly noticed, and didn't realize what was happening until Gen ran in and updated me on the commotion occurring on my chest.

E is growing leaps and bounds, has taken to drawing, and loved the attention of having Uncle Mikey around to play with dolls, kick around the balls in the backyard, go swinging and run around the park with.  It's amazing just how much energy a three year old can sap from your life, and by the time Corey would get home from work, I'm sure I had an exhausted deer in the headlights look etched deep into my eyes.

TAKE A LOOK BACK AT MY PAST KC TRIPS:

Mornings at the house arrived way too early, as children apparently, cannot sleep past daybreak.  Once they were up, I followed suit, and joined E in watching a plethora of children's programming that bewildered me in a way Electric Company and Captain Kangaroo never did.  E is great about TV - she watches her share of shows, but seems bored by it and ready to sit at her little table and have a tea party or play with a book of stickers.  I walked around the house with Gen snickering at me for hours at a time unaware I had a pink heart sticker attached above my eyebrow.

It was a pretty awesome week to witness the little ones and wear myself out over them.
