TOO WILD FOR TV?

MICHAEL SCHLIEFKE MAKES FIRST AUSTIN TV APPEARANCE, ART DOES NOT!!!

February 22, 2003. Austin Texas - The latest episode of Austinights aired at 1:00 AM Sunday morning, and videotape shot at Austin's Whisky Bar during the unveiling of the latest round of work from the ART Hive studio artists made its on air debut. After a lengthy segment interviewing the sushi chef, the program's attention shifted to the art on the walls.

Two women were discussing the quality of the sushi on hand for the lavish opening with Elise, the elusive host of the late night program. Elise smoothly steered the conversation to the art at hand, and asked if the women had a favorite. Without hesitation, the woman replied the one to the right of the door was her favorite. The painting was Michae; Schliefke's 5.5 by 7 foot tongue in cheek painting of 8 bathers with masks frolicing in the woods. Elise's eyes lit up, said that the painting was "wild, and I'm not sure we can show that on TV."

True to Elise's word, Austinights did not air said art. Instead, they launched into an interview with ART Hive founder and resident painter Nathan Jensen, then folowed with the dorkiest interview in mankind's history, Michael Schliefke's meandering musings. Look for a cameo with Rollergirl Whiskey L'Amour, and the reaching hand of Kristi Shaw. Featured whilst the artists were talking was a montage of various ART Hive art on display, with the glaring exception of Michael Schliefke's wild art.

Bather's Masquerade, the 'wild' painting in question.
