MY LATEST PAINTINGS - SPRING 2010
|

| June, 2010 - I finally found some time to immerse myself with some new paintings just before the big push to get the final volume of my four book, four year 'side project' completed before October.
While I sorted out my palette, cleaned up some brushes and got to work on some new canvases, I rediscovered my love of oil painting and the processes behind it.
I appreciate the slower pace of oil painting, waiting for layers to dry, allowing time to concentrate and think over the situation presenting itself on the canvas in front of you. |
These paintings are little baby steps into a new body of work that I'll continue to work on through the end of the year. Freed up from the tight drawings of my comic books, there was a real energy pushing paint and color around. The imagery in these three paintings developed from the process, remnants of my past work trying to find a new path. I feel these paintings are fine for the stage that I'm at right now, and once this fourth book goes to press, and a new stack of blank canvases are lined up in my studio, I
should really be able to make some progress pushing my work farther than it ever has been.
So the sketchbook stays open, and new ideas are scribbled and sketched in on a semi-regular pace. The future should be really good, for now, this is the present:
