Beckmann's original 'Family Picture'
| March, 2011- I recently spent some time working on a copy of Max Beckmann's Family Picture. To the left you can see the original, and below you can see my oversized version along with a couple of the friends I gave the painting to.
It was a crazy little exercise, one that emphasized a concise manner of mixing colors, intense study of space and figures, and attention to detail. This painting was a great exercise, and the changes I had to make to my own painting processes, and will help expedite the work on my own canvases. |
