2022 CHILDREN’S CLASSES CURRENTLY ON HOLD

Perfect for children aged 8-12, each private art class keeps the work and focus on each child in the class. These children’s art classes focus on drawing and painting, and can switch between the two mediums, depending on the child’s experience and desires. I recommend drawing for a few classes to go over the basics of proportion, shape, and shading as well as grasping the idea of how to start out creating art.

Classes are taught with patience and enthusiasm. This builds up a student’s confidence while they learn new ideas and concepts. I have over 15 years of teaching experience and can teach concepts finding the best method that connects with the student’s learning style.

All in person classes are currently on hold, and will hopefully restart with fully vaccinated people soon. I am not sure when I will hold in-person children’s classes again.

These classes are a great supplement to their art classes in school, allowing the students to pick up techniques, concepts and ideas about artmaking as well as hands on practice.Over the course of the eight one hour lessons, each student will work on drawing and painting various pictures, developing an eye for color and working on drawing and painting skills. Each class will feature some art history along with the painting time. There is a desk that parents can remain during the class sessions. High school students are encouraged to sign up for the regular painting/drawing classes and can focus in on building a portfolio and working through more advanced concepts. I have over 15 years of teaching experience.

These art classes are located in a quiet and safe corner of the historic northeast just blocks from the Kansas City Museum. My studio is located near 35, 70, and 71. My studio has off street parking and full climate control! Here’s a handy map and directions with a pretty and easy route to my studio. There are plenty of flexible class times that will fit with your busy schedule!

Class Information

Each class is one hour. Classes run for eight weeks.
Eight weeks of private classes costs $240.
Eight weeks of classes for two siblings or friends costs $160 for each student.

Classes are filled on a first come, first served basis on a rolling admission to fit your schedule.

I have a basic list of inexpensive drawing materials that can be picked up at any art or hobby store upon request. Class schedules are fairly flexible, with advance notice, classes can be rescheduled during the week or in case of vacations or other issues, a week can be skipped without losing your classtime. I just ask that you not abuse this and notify me as early as possible if you won’t be able to attend an art lesson.
