Learn to draw or learn to draw better!
You don’t have to be experienced to take these drawing classes! I teach all levels of experience – from absolute beginners to more advanced students looking to refine their talents! Patience and enthusiasm will help build your confidence as you work on honing your abilities and techniques!
These drawing classes meet for eight 90 minute sessions. Classes are centered around the act of drawing. Particular attention will be paid around the basics of seeing and drawing (proportions, shape, lines, values, etc), and over time, my students use the lessons learned to build their own confidence and abilities. It is my desire, after eight weeks of classes, to give the student the tools they need to continue to draw on their own.

2022 IN PERSON CLASSES NOW AVAILABLE!
I have restarted in-person classes! PLEASE BE VACCINATED if you contact me about in-person classes. I still offer online classes for non-vaccinated people. Life is full of choices, and your private choices have public consequences. In an effort to maintain a healthy and safe working environment for my students and myself, I’m only allowing vaccinated people into the studio that I spend working upwards of twelve hours a day. Please respect this decision as I respect yours.
Classes run for eight weeks. These art classes are located in a quiet and safe corner of the historic northeast just blocks from the Kansas City Museum. In a safe, family oriented neighborhood, my studio has off street parking and full climate control! My studio is located near 35, 70, and 71. Here’s a handy map and directions with a pretty and easy route to my studio. There are plenty of flexible class times that will fit with your busy schedule!
Over the course of eight weeks of classes, I will help each student develop drawing abilities by reinforcing techniques, concepts and processes of drawing while teaching them new ways to actually see what they are drawing. I believe in practice and learning through doing. I have over 15 years of teaching experience.

Eight weeks of drawing classes costs $320
Four weeks of drawing classes costs $160 - BRING A FRIEND
You can bring a friend, colleague, or family member along and each of you only pay $120 for four lessons or $240 each for eight lessons - DISCOUNT RATE
A special rate for the following folks:
Seniors over the age of 65
Residents in the 64123 or 64124 zip codes
Student loan rate: adults aged 22-26
The discount rate for classes is $280 for eight weeks and $140 for four weeks
Class schedules are fairly flexible, with advance notice, classes can be rescheduled during the week or in case of vacations or other issues, a week can be skipped without losing your classtime. I just ask that you not abuse this and notify me as early as possible if you won’t be able to attend an art lesson.
Materials:
- 11″x14″ drawing pad
- set of 4-6 drawing pencils (should have at least 2H, 2B, 4B pencils in a set – standard in any set of drawing pencils)
- white rectangular eraser (white eraser in blue wrapper)
- 5″x8″ black bound sketchbook (optional)
- white eraser in pen form (optional)

Class times are available on a rolling basis, so all you need to do is pick a day and time that fits your schedule and contact Michael to start your classes. All available class times are listed as open.
Class schedules are filled on a first come, first served basis, so if you’re looking to start drawing classes, now is a great time to sign up with the best class times still available.
For a limited time, I am offering a couple Saturday morning classes.
