On Saturday, April 30 the first annual Northeast Open Studio Tour takes place! Organized by Rebecca Koop of Back Door Pottery, a variety of studio spaces will be open all day, including the very site you’re reading now, schliefkevision. The tour kicks off at The EGG for its grand (re)opening featuring the work of local artists, snacks, beer tastings from Crane Brewery (at all locations) and opportunities to create your own art.
A modest beginning to any annual event, this first tour takes place in a wide variety of artist studios throughout Northeast Kansas City’s neighborhoods:
- Columbus Park
- Paseo West
- Pendleton Heights
- Scarritt Renaissance
- Indian Mound
- Independence Plaza
- Lykins
- Sheffield
It’s a really great, informal way to see some art in the actual spaces it’s being created. The Tour is also an opportunity to check out some of the new, larger art spaces in the Northeast like the Pendleton Arts Block Gallery. Studio maps will be available at every stop on the tour! Below is a list of all the studios open on April 30 from 10am-6pm.
